The overlooked Christmas movie of 2019 is now available to watch at home

Equally likely to have you laughing out loud and crying into your snacks.

There is a trailer for this movie further down, but we HIGHLY recommend you don’t watch it.

We watched the trailer before the movie came to (and, quietly, went from) cinemas late last year, and we wished we hadn’t, because we guessed the movie’s big ending just from the trailer, which kind of ruined it a little bit. So, yes, the trailer is there, but we don’t recommend you look at it. Deal? Deal.

Okay, on with the piece…

From the director of Bridesmaids, and a screenplay provided by the legendary Emma Thompson (who also stars in the movie, and is a Christmas icon herself after breaking all of our hearts in Love Actually), we reckon it is fair to say that Last Christmas got a bit of a raw deal when it came out, eh, last Christmas.

Critics didn’t really dig it, and the general public didn’t arrive in droves, so while the movie did make some money, it was not enough to expect 2 Last 2 Christmas any time soon.

The plot involves Kate (Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke) as a shop clerk at a year-round Christmas store, who is dealing with her day-to-day life involving her grouchy boss (Michelle Yeoh) and over-protective mother (that’ll be Emma Thompson), when one day she crosses paths with a charming, handsome stranger (Henry Golding) who seems to be making it his singular mission to turn Kate’s life around.

As the title might give away, the movie is entirely soundtracked by classic Wham and George Michael hits, and while it can be a little sweet at times, it is also very funny, and guaranteed to have you wiping away the tears, too.

Last Christmas is available to watch right now on NOW TV.
