The news has been a scary place this week. Let’s take a few minutes to escape from the world of no toilets and bins and go somewhere the youth of Ireland are celebrated.

We are of course talking about TikTok. If you still see the app as a confusing place where teenagers make crocs look stylish and dogs lip sync to Jason Derulo, there’s no need to be afraid. Here’s a few of the funniest, weirdest gems we discovered on TikTok this week to ease you in.

Maybe there’s a reason Uber isn’t allowed in Ireland. And it’s because your driver would probably end up being your third cousin once removed. Clisare nailing it as per here.

Sylvanian Drama

You may have come across this account already, but if not it’s time for a deep dive. Sylvanian Drama is pretty much what it says on the tin, scenes from the dramatic world of Sylvanian Families, usually with Taylor Swift playing in the background. Think Gossip Girl meets the toys in your attic. What’s not to love?

Have you ever felt there’s something missing from your life, but you can’t put your finger on what it is? It’s probably broadcasterbenat delivering Venga Boys lyrics in the style of an RTÉ newsreader. He’s also covered Dua Lipa and viral Tiktok songs like Body and Astronaut in the Ocean, and if you close your eyes, you really feel like you’re in the newsroom. Anne Doyle would be proud. To conclude, boom boom, boom boom. Good evening.

As we saw on Twitter last week, the Friends Reunion led to Matt Le Blanc being cast in his most pivotal role to date: your uncle Ger from Monaghan. Hughcarr took it one step further and brought the iconic meme to life, and the accuracy is everything. We can almost picture Monica bringing out the tin of USA biscuits in the background.

Cian Carmody

It’s the question on everybody’s lips… who would play the characters from Bun go Barr when it gets made into a movie? (they’ll be signing a Netflix deal for it any day now, it’s inevitable). If you’ve always thought Anne Hathaway would make an excellent Mamaí, you’ll love this vid.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg! Treat yourself to a journey down the Tiktok rabbit hole, it's the weekend after all.
