These are the eight best movies on TV tonight

movies on TV

Ready to settle in for a night on the couch? It may look sunny out there but it’s fairly nippy so curling up with a blanket and some popcorn don’t sound all that bad to me.

Tonight’s selection includes a beloved Disney classic and one of our favourite Irish musicals.

The Incredibles – RTÉ – 6:35pm

The first one, the original. The one that people loved so much they were willing to wait 14 years for a sequel. Stick it on “for the kids”, wink wink.

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation – RTÉ – 9:45pm

The fifth, yes I repeat, fifth instalment in the Mission: Impossible movie series, Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt taking on his most impossible mission yet.

Pitch Perfect 3 – RTÉ – 9pm

Not as good as the original but an entertaining watch all the same. Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow all reprise their roles as the Bellas reunite for one last acapella singing competition at an overseas USO tour.

Deadpool – Channel 4 – 9pm

It has Ryan Reynolds in it and that’s all you really need to know.

Now You See Me 2 – E4 – 9pm

The first one was on the box last night and now it’s time for round two. The gang of magicians-turned-criminals reunite for a comeback performance orchestrated by a high up technology magnate. Featuring quite the all-star cast too including Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Daniel Radcliffe and Morgan Freeman.

Planet of the Apes – ITV4 – 9:15pm

One for the sci-fi fans. Directed by Tim Burton, it tells the story of an astronaut who crash-lands on a mysterious planet where evolved, talking apes dominate over man.

27 Dresses – TG4 – 10:05pm

In the mood for a tried and tested rom-com? This one fits the bill. Katherine Heigl stars as singleton Jane, who is quite literally always the bridesmaid, never the bride – 27 times and counting. Landed with the job of planning her younger sister’s upcoming nuptials, things get messy when feelings get involved… don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Sing Street – RTÉ Two – 10:40pm

The movie that made me fall in love with Dublin. An absolute classic and with hits such as The Riddle of the Model, Brown Shoes and Drive It Like You Stole It.

Plenty to stay in for.
