Before we get into the best movies on TV, we must inform you that Netflix has added
The Trial of the Chicago 7 to their library today, and that movie is definitely going to be getting some Oscar'y attention very soon.
Now that we've got that out of the way, here are the movies you can watch tonight without a subscription fee, and in typical fashion, the very best movie tonight doesn't start until well after midnight...
The Green Mile - Virgin Media One - 9pm
Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan star in this prison-set drama about a convict on death row, sentenced for a crime he didn't commit, and who slowly reveals he may have some supernatural powers. You will absolutely, 100% cry watching this movie.
X-Men: Days of Future Past - E4 - 9pm
Up there with X-2 in terms of the best of the X-Men movies, this finds Wolverine travelling back through time, from an apocalyptic future where robots have wiped out most of humanity, to the 1970s in an attempt to kill the scientist who invented them in the first place.
The Transporter 3 - FilmFour - 9pm
Jason Statham has a nice car and is hired to transport things. This is the third time that transporting job has got him in trouble, and he deals with that trouble the only way he knows how: by taking his shirt off and kicking people in the face.
Pulp Fiction - Dave - 9.40pm
There was a time when not only was this considered to be Tarantino's best movie (Inglorious Basterds is his best movie, now with Once Upon A Time In Hollywood a close second, this isn't up for debate), but it was also pretty much everyone's favourite movie from the nineties. Having said that, it is still a brilliant movie and we will watch it all the way through each and every time it is on TV.
The Full Monty - RTE2 - 10pm
A group of friends on the unemployment line in middle England do the only reasonable thing to make a bit a money... and turn to stripping, but try to keep a secret for as long as possible.
Ghost in the Shell - FilmFour - 11.10pm
Scar-Jo plays the world's first cyber-human, tasked with stopping the growing spread of cyber-terrorism. Once she starts a proper investigation into the attacks, she soon discovers that her own murky past may be heavily connected.
In the Name of the Father - RTE One - 11.25pm
A powerful, brillaint seven-time-Oscar-nominated drama starring Daniel Day Lewis and Pete Postlethwaite as a father and son imprisoned for connections to an IRA bombing they had no hand in, and Emma Thompson as the British lawyer tasked with securing their freedom.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two - Channel 4 - 12.10am
The final entry in the Hunger Games quadrilogy is all out war, with Katniss bringing the fight directly to District One and the corrupt President Snow.
The Handmaiden - FilmFour - 1.10am
One of the greatest psycho-sexual thrillers of all time (yes, that is a real genre), this Korean movie set in the 1930s involves a young woman who is hired as a handmaiden to a Japanese heiress, but secretly she is involved in a plot to defraud her.
