A very decent mix of movies to accompany a very cold Monday night.
Tonight is going to be a COLD one, a real “Skip the jog, it is far TOO cold for this” kind of night, so you’ve got some options.
You can either go with a classic Christmas movie (since it is December), or you can go with one of these instead:
Ghostbusters – FilmFour – 6.15pm
Not the original classic, but the all-female remake that really got a much harsher reaction than it deserved. Is it even nearly as funny as the Bill Murray outing? No. But does it still have plenty of laugh out loud moments throughout? Absolutely.
The World Is Not Enough – ITV4 – 9pm
Pierce Brosnan’s 007 faces off against a bad guy who has a bullet lodged in his brain, making it impossible for him to feel pain, and he’s got some big, explosive plans involving a nuclear submarine and an oil-pipeline.
Now You See Me – Sky One – 9pm
An all-star cast feature in this heist action-thriller dealing with a group of magicians (Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Jesse Eisenberg) who use their illusions as fronts for robbing banks, and the agent (Mark Ruffalo) trying to stop them.
The Hurt Locker – TG4 – 9.30pm
Another fantastic cast – Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Christian Camargo, Ralph Fiennes, David Morse, Guy Pearce – star in this Oscar-winning drama about a group of bomb disposal experts working in Iraq.
End of Days – ITV4 – 11.40pm
Arnie literally fights the Devil. The Devil! And the Devil is played by Gabriel Byrne. This film is ridiculous, but just on the right side of the ridiculous so it is still a lot of fun.
45 Years – FilmFour – 1.40am
Charlotte Rampling stars in this powerful drama, as she is about to celebrate the 45 year wedding anniversary with her husband, when a revelation about his first love makes him question how much he really loves his current wife.
