If you’re wondering what the best movies on TV tonight are, then we’ve got just the article for you!
Truth be told, tonight’s mix of movies isn’t the BEST we’ve ever seen, but it definitely has enough to distract us for a few hours, and to be honest, that is all we really need on this wet and cold Wednesday evening.
Home Again – FilmFour – 6.55pm
Rom-com queen Reece Witherspoon stars as a woman who separates from her husband, and in order to keep her home, allows three young men to move in with her. Things begin to complicate when she starts a new relationship with one of them, just as her husband decides he wants to win her back.
Starship Troopers – ITV4 – 9pm
When we are attacked by space bugs, soldiers from Earth decide to take the fight to them. From the director of Robocop and Total Recall, this is another brilliantly satirical comedy, hidden underneath the thrilling action-sci-fi on the surface.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri – FilmFour – 9pm
Frances McDormand (who won an Oscar for her performance in this) is the vengeful mother trying to call attention to the lack of progress made by local police, especially Sam Rockwell (who also won an Oscar for this), in the investigations into the murder of her daughter.
Absolute Power – TCM – 9pm
Clint Eastwood directs this crime drama, in which he plays a thief who witnesses a horrific crime involving the President himself, here played by the legendary Gene Hackman.
Why Him? – FilmFour – 11.20pm
Bryan Cranston stars in this comedy about a nice dad who finds out that her daughter’s boyfriend James Franco is about to pop the question, but Bryan really, really, REALLY doesn’t like James, and makes it his life’s goal to make sure the engagement never happens.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army – ITV4 – 11.35pm
This visually incredible graphic novel sequel should’ve been a hit along with the rest of the comic book movies out there, but unfortunately it was just too weirdly beautiful for this world. Definitely worth a watch if you’ve never seen it.
