Tiger King is the Netflix show everybody is talking about at the moment and once you get a couple of episodes in you’ll see exactly why.
Since it was released on March 20, Tiger King has captured the imagination of international audiences, helped in part by the fact that millions of people are staying at home due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
If you haven’t seen it, Tiger King revolves around the trials and travails of Joe Exotic, the owner of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park in Oklahoma. Known as the Tiger King, due to the fact the park began as a shelter for big cats, the story of Joe’s rivalry with Big Cat Rescue owner Carole Baskin gets more bizarre with every episode.
The seven-episode series features interviews with people who know Joe best including business partners, employees and a lengthy line of his current and former husbands.
Among the fairly madcap supporting cast, there’s one person who everyone seems to agree has his feet on the ground slightly more than others. Having served Joe while working as a manager in Walmart, Joshua Dial was well aware of his eccentricities, even saying himself “I already knew he was batshit crazy from our conversations at Walmart.”
Still, that didn’t stop Joshua coming on board for his “dream job” as campaign manager when Joe decided to run from the United States Presidency in 2016. Because of course Joe Exotic decided to run for the United States Presidency.
During his stint at the animal park, Dial got to experience first-hand Joe’s bizarre behaviour and, as viewers will eventually see, he even witnessed one of the most traumatic things anyone can witness. That’s about all we’ll say about it for now except that the final episode wraps up with Joshua making the point that pretty much everyone in the story had lost sight of what was really important. A rare sane voice in an otherwise bonkers story.
People seem to be in agreement that Joshua is the real hero of Tiger King…

Who could forget when Joe Exotic ran for governor of Oklahoma? More so, who could forget the purest victim of this entire show, Joe's campaign manager, Joshua Dial? He'll be played by a reserved Jonah Hill. pic.twitter.com/xg4RHPk0aR
