The Golden Globes was full of surprise winners last night, with one of the biggest being Bohemian Rhapsody.

The Queen biopic shocked almost everyone when it beat A Star Is Born to win best drama film.

Rami Malek, who played Freddie Mercury, also scooped the prize for best drama actor and dedicated his win to the iconic musician.

Accepting his prize last night, Malek said, “Thank you to Freddie Mercury for giving me the joy of a lifetime. I love you, you beautiful man.

“This is for and because of you, gorgeous.”

The actor went on to thank Queen’s guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor “for ensuring that authenticity and inclusivity exists in music and in the world and all of us”.

If you missed your chance to see Bohemian Rhapsody in cinemas when it came out back in October, you’re in luck because it’s coming back to Irish screens soon.

A singalong screening will be shown in selected Dublin cinemas this Friday and you can find more details here.
