The Sopranos is widely regarded as one of, if not THE, best TV show of all time so this story from the States today is sure to please a hell of a lot of people.

Deadline is reporting that the show's creator David Chase is working on a movie version which currently has the working title of The Many Saints Of Newark. The screenplay has been picked up by New Line and is set to be a prequel to the events in the series set during the Newark riots in the 1960s.

The Sopranos ran for six seasons between 1999 and 2007 and was a huge hit with international audiences. Its lead star James Gandolfini passed away in 2013 and its thought that the movie will feature his character (Tony Soprano)'s father Giovanni.

Could we see a return of the classic opening theme tune? We'll have to wait and see.
