Looking for something new to listen to? We think we may have found your perfect fit.

'Phoning It In', is a brand-new comedy podcast which drops every Monday on the Headstuff Podcast Network.

It is the new home for up-and-coming Irish comedy talent, according to the show’s creator Dave Coffey (Dan & Becs, Sarah + Steve).

The show is a completely improvised spoof of phone-in chat shows like Joe Duffy’s Liveline and The Adrian Kennedy Phoneshow, featuring a weekly panel of Ireland’s rising comedy, improv and acting stars.

“It’s all made up on the spot. When I introduce my guests, they have no idea what they’re about to complain about, so they have to be really quick on their feet and react to whatever crazy complaint I give them. That’s why my guests so far have included some of Ireland’s best comedians and improvisers,” said Coffey.

He continued: “There are so many amazingly talented comedy performers in Ireland right now, but there seems to be less traditional outlets willing to give them a platform. The Republic of Telly is gone, The Panel is a distant memory. Podcasts are the go-to place for great Irish comedy these days. That’s why I started Phoning It In.”

The podcast will feature a different panel of performers every week. Some of the guests that have already appeared on Phoning It In include:

Hannah Mammalis, a Dublin based actress, writer and comedian who is set to take her popular Fringe show The Egg is a Lonely Hunter to Edinburgh next month.

Erin McGathy, a US comedian, podcast host, performer and writer who studied improv comedy at the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles.

Kelly Shatter and Luke Benson, co-creators of hit web series, The Long Dark Twenties, Shatter also runs Dublin’s leading improv school Stoke Improv.

Future episodes are set to feature rising Facebook star Tony Cantwell, comedian Ali Fox and members of the Dreamgun comedy collective.

Phoning It In is expected to follow in the footsteps of other popular Irish podcasts such as Jarlath Regan’s An Irishman Abroad which just celebrated its 250th episode and Rubberbandit’s star Blindboy Boatclub’s weekly podcast which has been dominating the Irish podcast charts in recent months.
