Movie Starring Love/Hate’s Two Favourite Characters Is Must-Watch Weekend Television

Darragh Berry

A little part of us still hopes that we’ll wake up to the news that Love/Hate has been recommissioned for a sixth series.

What a programme and what a finish to the final ever episode with Nidge meeting his maker in his own back yard.

Two vital characters in the epic Irish show were ‘Fran’ and ‘Tommy’ played by Peter Coonan and Killian Scott.

Some of the show’s most memorable lines have come out the mouths of these two actors with ‘Coola boola, Nidgey’ and ‘I’ll have a fizzy orange’ chalked down in history as the funniest quotes in Irish television.

However, in the same year that Love/Hate showed its face for the last time, Coonan and Scott released a film of their own.

Get Up And Go follows two friends Alex (Coonan) and Coilin (Scott) from Dublin who are forced to re-evaluate their friendship which has remained the same since they were teenagers.

They feel that this never-changing relationship could be the reason why they haven’t gone on to do anything proper with their lives.

Here’s a look at the trailer…

When artist Alex discovers that his girlfriend is pregnant, he refuses to allow her derail his plans to leave Dublin for the bright lights of London.

Meanwhile Coilin – a comedian – carefully constructs a world of hopes, dreams and expectations but it begins to come crumbling down around him.

Get Up And Go is on RTÉ Two this Saturday, 6th April at 9:15pm.
