Saoirse Ronan Is Tipped For An Oscar In Her New Coming-Of-Age Drama

Sarah

The golden gal of Hollywood, Saoirse Ronan has been described as “Meryl reborn” by Ryan Gosling, and despite being only 23 she’s already had a hugely successful acting career.

Previously nominated for Oscars for her performances in Brooklyn (Best Actress) and Atonement (Best Supporting Actress), Saoirse is generating an Oscar buzz yet again.

Her latest role is teenager Christine ‘Lady Bird’ McPherson in coming-of-age drama Ladybird.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Marion McPherson, a California nurse, works tirelessly to keep her family afloat after her husband loses his job. She also maintains a turbulent bond with a teenage daughter who is just like her — loving, strong-willed and deeply opinionated.

American critics are already tipping her performance for an Oscar nod, with Vulture saying that it “further cements Ronan as one of the great actresses of her generation”.

Ladybird will be out in Irish cinemas in February 2018, so make sure to keep an eye out for this stellar release.
