WATCH: This Fly-On-The-Well Netflix Documentary Will Have Everyone Talking This Christmas

James Fenton

Fly-On-The-Wall sports documentaries have become a bit of a trend in the past few years. Here in Ireland, the format has given audiences a closer look at the hard work put in by athletes such as Katie Taylor and Conor McGregor, while football clubs such as Manchester City and Juventus have also gained attention for allowing the cameras in behind closed doors.

English club Sunderland AFC has now followed suit with a new Netflix documentary which is set to be released this weekend. While most sports documentaries chart the successes of their subjects, this one is set to be the exact opposite. The former Premier League side have now suffered two successive relegations, leaving them languishing in League One and trying to figure out a route back to the top table.

If the trailer is anything to go by, the eight-part series is a no holds barred account of the demise of a local football club, with plenty of spats between players, management and supporters along the way. The passion shown throughout the trailer paints the picture of a loyal fanbase devastated by current state of the north-east city’s prized asset.

Check it out for yourself below and if you want to catch the real thing Sunderland ‘Til I Die is released on Netflix on Friday December 14.
