Illegal Downloading In Ireland Might Get A Lot More Difficult

seank

The illegal downloading of TV shows and movies may become a lot more difficult in Ireland due to legal action being taken by Hollywood’s Motion Picture Association.

Comprised of six movie studios, the organisation has gone to Commercial Court to fight the pirating of their films and TV shows, which amounted to €320 million of lost revenues in 2015.

Recent research has suggested that 1.3 million people in the Republic of Ireland could be involved in the illegal downloading of media and proceedings are being taken against these internet service providers (ISPs) to combat this: Eircom, Sky Ireland, Vodafone Ireland, Virgin Media Ireland, Digiweb, Imagine Telecommunications, Magnet Networks and two divisions of Three Ireland.

According to Irishtimes.com, the Motion Picture Association wants these ISPs to block streaming websites which are responsible for illegal downloads, such as primewire.ag, movie4k.to and the website currently located at onwatchseries.to.
