Even though the name may suggest it, gripping new crime docudrama The Keepers isn't about the lives and times of Irish football legends Packie Bonner and Shay Given.

The newly-released Netflix show is focused on the unsolved 1969 murder of nun Sister Cathy Cesnik in Baltimore in the States.

While some of you may have heard whispers about the seven-part series which was just released at the weekend, we should all begin to brace ourselves as pretty soon it's going to be the topic of conversation at every pub and workplace around the country.

Irish people are already gripped by the series which alludes to the possibility of Cesnik's murder being part of a cover-up of countless incidences of sexual abuse inflicted by the Catholic Church.

Many would agree it's a subject matter close to home and it seems some people are already hooked on the show which is already being compared to another hugely successful Netflix crime drama Making A Murderer:

Having watched the series ourselves, we can completely vouch for the disturbing and upsetting content of The Keepers. While the efforts of some of those involved to reveal the truth will have you completely cheering for them, the other side of the coin is that it is essentially a sad tale of conspiracies, lies and some downright evil deeds.

However, if you like your real life crime a bit on the dark side then this is absolutely the programme for you. Episode 1 sets it all up and by the end of the next episode, you won't want to go to bed for two reasons:

1) Your head will be spinning so much from revelation after revelation and that you simply won't be able to sleep.

2) Such is the addictive nature of The Keepers, it's physically tough not to click 'watch next episode'.

Perhaps it's best to save this for the weekend.
