For most people growing up in Ireland hurling is a game you take for granted and never truly realise just how fucking nuts it is.
Hardly any protective gear and a 98% chance you’ll be whacked with either a wooden stick or a solid white ball makes this one of the most intense games to not only play, but watch as well.
And with Sky Sports recently starting to broadcast the games on its UK channels, Brits are being introduced to this classic Irish sport – and their minds are blown.
Clare took on Limerick at Semple Stadium in the semi-final of the Munster Hurling Championship yesterday, and the reactions on Twitter of people watching the game for the first time are legendary…

Watching the hurling malarkey. Is there a point to the game apart from Irish blokes battering each other with over sized hockey sticks?

This Irish Hurling semi final is not for the faint hearted. Tough old game.
