Two more Hollywood stars confirmed for blockbuster Dungeons & Dragons filmed in Ireland

You’ll barely be able to move in Ireland in 2021 without bumping into a celebrity.

Back in January, we reported that Chris Pine (Star Trek, Hell Or High Water) was reportedly heading to Ireland to take on the lead role for the upcoming big screen adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons.

The blockbuster is set to be filmed in part at the Titanic Studios in Belfast, with writer/directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who previously wrote the screenplay for Spider-Man: Homecoming, and directed the extremely under-appreciated comedy Game Night.

The movie already has a release date – May 27, 2022 – with production to begin pretty much any day now, and Deadline have reported that Pine will be joined by two more Hollywood stars.

Michelle Rodriguez (Resident Evil, Fast & Furious) and Justice Smith (Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom, Detective Pikachu) have signed on to the project, which means locals in Belfast may be able to get their own version of “Matt Damon With A SuperValu Bag” moment before too long with not one, not two, but three famous actors.

The actual plot for the movie is still being kept mostly under wraps, so we don’t know if it will be a deadly serious, Game Of Thrones’y action fest, or more of a Jumanji vibe, with players being dragged into a game, and forced to comically fight for their survival.

Either way, we can’t wait to check it out on the big screen next year!
