“Unite by staying apart”.
Some of the country’s top musicians have come together to release a special message to the public – encouraging us all to “unite by staying apart”. The video follows on from one released by some of Ireland’s biggest sporting names – who united to reiterate the same message.
Shared online by a number of those involved, the video features clips of different Irish artists all saying variations of the same thing. Hudson Taylor, both of whom were involved in the video, posted it to their Instagram feed alongside the caption:
“It’s important for us all to unite by keeping our distance. In these uncertain times, what is for certain are the needs of all of those who are on the front lines of this pandemic.
We have to support the heroes of our nation, the healthcare workers & doctors who made it their purpose to care for our health and fight for our lives. What can we do? Just stay apart!
There has never been a moment in our history as a country or indeed as a planet when we’ve been so connected in experiencing the same feelings like anxiety and loneliness.
The isolation isn’t easy for any of us but we’re all in this together. We’re all in the same boat. We are all missing friends, family and loved ones.”
Other famous faces that crop up throughout the video include the likes of Hozier, Niall Horan, Dermot Kennedy and Gavin James to name but a few.
Encouraging people to fill their time by taking up an instrument or writing a song, the message ends with a heartfelt plea encouraging us all to continue adhering to social distancing measures.
