We love a good documentary around these parts, which is we're excited about the Irish-made The Farthest.
The feature tells the story of Voyager, a tiny space probe that was launched in 1977 to explore the outer solar system — which is now more than 12 billion miles away from Earth.
While the craft's nuclear battery will run out in approximately 10 years, Voyager may still travel for millions of years if left unhindered. It contains within it information about Earth, should alien lifeforms ever intercept the machine and wonder about its origins.
We learn about the people who built Voyager, the ambitions behind it, and the mysteries that the universe still holds.
Produced by the Irish Crossing The Line Films, this documentary promises to a visually arresting journey through history of space exploration and the cosmos itself.
The Farthest is released on July 28, 2017.
