We’re all well aware that films come with a specific age classification depending on how gory, sweary or raunchy it might be.
But how exactly do the powers that be decide on what rating each film is going to get, you ask?
Well, writer Damien Owens came up with a handy explanation of what kind of content G, PG, 12, 15 and 18 films actually contain.
Irish Film Classifications
PG: Mostly grand but sure you know yourself
12: Might be a bit of shifting
15: Shifting, implied riding, lads getting a box in the mouth, a few bad words
18: Riding, young wans in the nip, heads blew clean off, and the LANGUAGE out of them

We have to hand it to him, they’re seriously spot on – especially the PG definition of: ‘Mostly grand but sure you know yourself.’
