This Offaly Pub’s Answer To The John Lewis Christmas Ad Is The Best Thing You’ll See Today

An Offaly pub has just released a Christmas ad to contend with this year’s offerings from the likes of John Lewis and Iceland.

For the third year in a row, JJ Hough’s Singing Pub in Banagher, Offaly, has revealed its very own Christmas ad.

Last year they released one called Drone Alone starring an elderly woman, a drone and a pint of Guinness, and their first ad was all about a man who lost his Christmas presents.

This year’s video is cleverly named Digital De-Houghx and is all about the impact of smartphones on the enjoyment of Christmas.

In the clip, an elderly man gets annoyed at everyone in the pub staring at their phones so he goes out and chops down the nearest telegraph pole so that they have no electronic distractions and can properly enjoy each other’s company.

Manager Gerald Hough told the Press Association, “It’s a social commentary on technology and how it’s not all bad, but also how we can use them to our benefit and improve our lives.”
