Now look, we know this isn't the news you want to hear on a cold dark morning (the first one back to work, too) but apparently we're all doing something quite foolish in the morning that's making us even sleepier.
Can't think what it could be? Hmm... Maybe the vague memories of whacking 'snooze' on your alarm clock a million times sounds familiar?
Yep - hitting the snooze button could be seriously messing up your sleep pattern
According to Dr. Daniel Barone, the author of "Let's Talk About Sleep", pressing snooze disturbs your brain's process of trying to wake up.
While some people will set their alarm for 7am knowing that realistically they will hit snooze until 7.30am, Dr. Barone warns that "it screws your brain up a little bit."
"You may feel like, 'Oh god, I’m still out of it' or 'I feel worse than I did before', he said.
He "always recommends to people to just set the alarm for the latest you can wake up and just have it — that just be the one time you wake up."
Dr. Barone also noted that quite often when you wake up before your alarm goes off it's your body's way of saying its had enough sleep, so trying to fall back asleep will only cause havoc for your sleep cycle.
Ugh. Fine, we'll wake up.
