Today Is The Busiest Day Of The Year On Tinder – Here’s Why

Hands up who’s lying in bed swiping on Tinder right now? If the stats are anything to go by then it’s a hard chance it’s most of ye singletons. 

Today, the first Sunday of January, is know as ‘Dating Sunday’ and is officially the busiest day of the year on dating apps. It apparently kickstarts dating season and is the beginning of the most active months for hooking up – people wanna get some smooches before jetting off for the summer. 

So why is today of all days so popular for swiping?

It all makes sense if you think about it. January is the traditional time for setting goals and making changes to your life, so it’s fitting that today (when people finally have some free time after a busy first week back in work) is the perfect opportunity to set up a profile and make some connections. 

“The end of the year is really a good time of reflection,” said Jess Carbino, dating app Tinder’s in-house sociologist. “People have the opportunity to really think about what they’ve done in the past year and what they want to do in the future. And for many single people, finding a partner is something that they really want to establish as a goal for the new year.”

Just remember: a boyfriend isn’t only for Valentine’s Day.
