Virgin Media have explained their decision to replace last night’s edition of Inside The K with an episode of Gogglebox Ireland.

Viewers were not happy after last night’s edition of The Guards: Inside the K was pulled from Virgin Media’s schedule and replaced with an episode of Gogglebox.

The channel revealed the short notice change to the schedule yesterday. A spokesperson said that “in a change to tonight’s schedule, Gogglebox Ireland: Looks Back (80s & 90s) will air tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media One, with new series The Guards: Inside The K continuing next Wednesday at 9pm on Virgin Media One.”

Today, Virgin Media have explained the reasons behind the decision. Taking to Twitter, they wrote:

“In the current climate and due to the nature of last night’s scheduled episode of The Guards: Inside The K, which dealt with themes of mental health and suicide, the episode was postponed. The series will continue Wednesday at 9pm on Virgin Media One.”

Since its premiere, the show has gained massive viewership all over the country. It follows the work of Gardaí serving the areas of Blanchardstown, Cabra, and Finglas in Dublin.

Last night’s episode was due to be the third in a series of five. The show will air as normal next Wednesday, March 25 at 9pm.
