We tried not to cry. We tried, and we failed.
If you've sat down and enjoyed a Disney movie in the cinema over the last few years, then you already know that they are very, VERY good at telling massively emotional stories in a very short amount of time. Those mini-movies that arrive before the feature usually have folk laughing and/or sobbing before the main movie has even begun.
So it should come as no surprise that their new Christmas ad will have you trying to hold back a sob, telling the beautiful story of different generations of one family celebrating Christmas in their own way, and how those traditions and gifts hold so much emotional weight to them.
Titled "From Our Family To Yours", the three-minute advert is filled with easter eggs to previous Disney classics, and has been created to celebrate Disney's 40 year support of children's charity Make-A-Wish.
Over the ad, you can hear Ivor Novello Rising Star nominee Griff performing her new original track Love Is A Compass, which is available to download from today (Monday, November 9), and for every download before 31 December 2020, 100% of the proceeds from the retail price will be donated to Make-A-Wish.
The vintage-inspired Mickey Mouse teddy featured in the advert is also available to buy from The Disney Store and ShopDisney.ie, with proceeds from each purchase also going to support Make-A-Wish.
Tasia Filippatos, the Senior Vice President of Disney EMEA said "Christmas is a time for giving and giving back, and we’re delighted to debut this festive ad campaign supporting our long-term charity partner Make-A-Wish. Our goal was to tell a universal story that inspires through the themes of family, love and special holiday traditions. We hope that Disney fans enjoy the short."
