WATCH: Graham Norton involved in hugely awkward gaffe on live TV today

Alison Hammond is in for a rough ride if she appears on The Graham Norton Show any time soon.

Most people who have had pets will have experienced the devastation of having to say goodbye and television presenter Graham Norton is no different. The thing is, most people will never get a unwelcome reminder of their loss on live television.

Appearing on This Morning on ITV today, Graham Norton was having a pleasant chat with Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond when things suddenly took a bit of a morbid turn.

Alison brought up the topic of the Corkman’s dog and asked how he was doing but to her surprise (and the surprise of the millions watching), a stony-faced Norton declared that said pooch was no longer with us.

Back in October, Graham spoke openly about the death of his beloved Bailey who passed away during lockdown in Cork last year. To be fair to Alison, she had no idea and Norton did a great job of pulling her back in after her faux pas. As for O’Leary, well he simply revelled in his co-host’s pain.
