It could end up being a memorable winter for Mayo, with Kerry already knocked out of the Championship and one of their sons about to take the top job in Washington.
With that in mind, it's understandable that people from Mayo might have a spring in their step right now. Take this fella over in Washington, for example. During an RTE News report from the White House, attentive viewers couldn't help but spot a familiar combination of red and green coming into shot and the wearer did the only thing that Irish people know how when they end up on telly.
Without missing a step, he put both hands in the air as if to let everyone back home get a sense of the positive mood around Washington. It's quite likely that Mayo's win over Roscommon yesterday will have helped his jovial demeanour, as will Ballina descendant Joe Biden's election victory.
