After Life series two is on the way and not a moment too soon if you’re speedily getting through your lockdown watch list.

The trailer for the second series of After Life has arrived this afternoon and it sees lead character Tony (Ricky Gervais) attempt to be a bit nicer to those who helped him deal with the loss of his wife Lisa in series one. Of course, Tony finds this difficult because he’s a bit of a natural curmudgeon but judging by the minute-and-a-half long clip, there are plenty of lighter moments that he gets to enjoy with the supporting characters. The best part is Tony’s dog Brandy is back as well.

The second series of After Life will be available on Netflix from Friday, April 24 and you can have a glimpse at what’s in store below…

Speaking about the new series, Ricky Gervais said: “I was blown away by the reaction to season one. I’ve never experienced anything quite like it. It’s been truly heart-warming to see how the show has resonated with so many viewers on an emotional level. I can’t wait for everyone to see season two where hope is everything”

As well as performing in the main role, Gervais also writes, directs and produces every episode of After Life. After the initial release of series one in March of last year, the series achieved critical acclaim for its blend of dark comedy and more touching dramatic moments.

Other cast members include Gervais’ old Extras pal Ashley Jensen as a nurse working at Tony’s father’s nursing home as well as Tom Basden as Matt, Tony’s brother-in-law and boss at the Tambury Gazette newspaper.

Let’s face it, the more fresh series we can look forward to at the moment, the better. Keep ’em coming, Netflix.
