After months and months of anticipation, the big McGregor vs Mayweather fight is finally taking place, and it seems like it’s not just Irish people who are obsessing over Conor’s bravado.
Comedy show Saturday Night Live featured a parody clip of Conor McGregor (performed by Alex Moffat) chatting to SNL host Colin Jost ahead of tonight’s smackdown, and jesus christ it’s awful.
The Irish accent is even worse than Gerard Butler’s in P.S I Love You, sounding more like a rogue leprechaun who’s smoked too many Majors, and the cultural stereotypes are all over the gaff.
Think references to St. Patrick, being pissed drunk, and green four-leafed clovers.
And they got his “confidence” just right…
“Ahhh, Colin, boxing’s just kicking with your hands and your feet. Plus, I’ll beat anyone at their own game — next week I’m going to fight that shark that beat Michael Phelps in that swim race!”
And naturally, people are pretty fed up with it…
Jeez, this #McGregor impression is so lame.
C’mon #SNL. Lucky Charms and 4 Leaf Clovers?? That’s all you got?https://t.co/AzrvNBWocN— Christopher Brennan (@ItsChrisBrennan) August 25, 2017

It makes me think they are not ready to know the truth about the leprechauns. Pity

This is painful. We recommend trying not to watch the clip more than once if you can help it.
