And yes, he’ll be wearing GAA shorts.
The man, the myth, the legend: Paul Mescal will return to Irish screens later this month in his first project since Normal People. Set to star in a brand new short film, the project was filmed in lovely Longford as part of the Galway Film Fleadh.
Called Drifting, the film stars Paul Mescal as GAA loving Cian, while Dafhyd Flynn of Michael Inside Fame plays Pat. Telling the story of childhood friends Cian and Pat – it follows two old pals who have grown up together and seem to have small-town life all figured out. But, while Cian is happy enough to continue with his boozy womanising ways, Pat has his sights set on bigger things.
Set over the course of 24 hours, a short bio for the film reads:
“Two lifelong friends in a small rural town find themselves at odds for the first time as their lifestyles begin to move in opposite directions.”
Written, produced and directed by Robert Higgins and Patrick McGivney, the film also features a score from well known electronic artist Daithí. Premiering as part of the Galway Film Fleadh festival, this year’s event will take place exclusively online and you can grab tickets here.
