We chatted to Conleth Hill about Game of Thrones, new Irish drama Herself and the late, great Diana Rigg

Rory Cashin

He stars in the brilliant new Irish movie that arrives in cinemas this weekend.

The pandemic has been an odd time for everyone. We know this. We ALL already know this.

And not to single any one section of the world out, but one aspect that was definitely HUGELY affected was the world of movies and cinema-going.

Films found their release dates pushed back by months and sometimes years, and you talk to the stars involved about these movies at a time when you think they’re about to come out… and then they don’t.

That is exactly what happened when we chatted to Conleth Hill in what was originally the run-up to his new movie’s release. Herself arrives in Irish cinemas this week, but this conversation took place in September 2020…

Check it out in full interview right here:

Most fans of the actor might remember him as the seemingly duplicitous Varys from Game Of Thrones, but he’s also appeared in hit shows and movies such as Suits, Here Are The Young Men, Intermission and Dublin Murders.

When we chatted to him, he was in the middle of shooting the latest series of Vienna Blood (in Vienna, unsurprisingly), and we chatted about his time on Game Of Thrones, as well as his memories of working with the great Diana Rigg (who had passed away only a few days before the interview took place).

We also discussed Herself at length, the brilliant new Irish drama that tackles the current housing crisis here in a unique, sometimes funny, often touching way.

Herself arrives in Irish cinemas on Friday, 10 September.
