What’s new pussycat? Tom Jones announces two major Irish gigs

Soon to be 80 years old, the musician shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Tom Jones has just announced two major Irish gigs for this summer.

Set to take to the stage in both Belfast and Cork, he’ll treat Irish audiences to his signature silky vocals.

First up is Live At Botanic Gardens in Belfast on May 31st, shortly followed by a headline performance at Live at the Marquee in Cork on June 2nd.

This comes just before his landmark 80th birthday which falls on June 7th. Also celebrating a career spanning over 50 years, the Welshman has gone from strength to strength over the past five decades.

Arguably best known for hits such as It’s Not Unusual, Kiss, Delilah, What’s New Pussycat, I’ll Never Fall In Love Again and If I Only Knew – his music is characterised for its blues-y and soulful nature.

One of the true living legends, Tom Jones’ music continues to appeal to young and old alike.

This year has also seen Jones return to prime time Saturday night TV, reprising his role on ITV’s The Voice.

According to the Ticketmaster website:

“Along with sustaining his popularity as a live performer and recording artist, he has garnered – at the age of 78 – the best reviews of his career for two of his latest albums: 2010’s Praise & Blame and 2012’s Spirit in the Room.”

His most recent album is Long Lost Suitcase, which wasreleased back in 2015.

Tickets for both Tom Jones gigs go on sale next Thursday, January 30th at 9am from Ticketmaster.
