The first Saturday night of lockdown 2.0 is upon us, but fret not – there is plenty on the box to make staying in worth your while.
Paddington – 7:05pm – RTÉ One
A young Peruvian bear travels to London in search of a home, finding shelter with the Brown family who offer him temporary shelter. Based on the much-loved character Paddington Bear, stick this on if you need a bit of nostalgia.
The Wedding Singer – 9pm – Comedy CentralÂ
An Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore special, The Wedding Singer is a classic for a reason.
Hulk – 9pm – Sky One
Based on the Marvel comic book character of the same name, Eric Bana stars as Bruce Banner – a genetics researcher who suffers an accident that transforms him into a giant, green monster when he gets angry.
Jason Bourne – 9pm – Channel 4
An action-thriller film with the one and only Matt Damon at the helm, he stars as the title character who finds himself being hunted down by a former CCIA operative gone rogue.
The Da Vinci Code – 9pm – Dave
Based on Dan Brown’s best-selling novel of the same name, the movie has quite a high-profile cast with Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou and Ian McKellen all featuring throughout. Hanks stars as a respected academic on the run after he is framed for the murder of a French historian.
X-Men: Apocalypse – 9pm – FilmFour
Another one based on Marvel comic book characters, X-Men: Apocalypse is the ninth instalment in the X-Men film series. This one sees the heroes face the oldest and most powerful of their kind and stop him from destroying civilisation. Standard stuff really.
Country Strong – 9:20pm – TG4
Gwyneth Paltrow is an emotionally unstable country music star who tries to salvage her career after coming out of rehab – a task made all the more difficult by tensions with her husband and manager.
War for the Planet of the Apes – 9:45pm – RTÉ 2
Conflict between the apes and the humans arises, with the former suffering unimaginable losses and causing Caeser to wrestle with a desire for revenge. Starring Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson and Steve Zahn.
The Young Offenders – 9:50pm – RTÉ One
Saving the best for last, I don’t have to tell you that this is a must-watch. All about best friends Connor andJock, it tells of how they steal two bikes and go on a road trip to find a missing bale of cocaine washed up somewhere on the Cork coast.
