Nine Pumpkin Patches To Visit Around Ireland

Éadaoin Fitzmaurice

It’s that time of year again.

Instead of grabbing the last mouldy pumpkin from a damp box in your local supermarket why not live the full Instagram hun experience and pick your own?

Here some amazing pumpkin patches in the country:

1. Alright Pumpkin Patch

The Alright Pumpkin patch has been growing pumpkins since 2013.

They started after working in America and deciding to bring bright colours back to Ireland. Fordstown Co. Meath has very close ties to the origins of Halloween so it’s a great place to visit if you want to get into the festive mood.

It’s dog-friendly and there is tea and coffee on site.

2. Ladyrath Pumpkin Patch

Established in October 2016 Ladyrath Lane has transformed from a small patch visited by a couple of hundred people to an annual sell-out Halloween festival attracting thousands of people from across the country.

Located in Rathkenny near Navan, you can pick out your very own pumpkin and carve it on site.

4. Wooly Wards Farm

Denise Buckley is one of only two growers in North County Dublin who plant acres of pumpkins each year. Just down the road from Denise, Mary Ward & her family (who happens to be a cousin of Denise’s husband) runs Wooly Ward’s Farm.

There are also a few furry friends on the farm that love posing for pictures.

A great spot for all ages.
