Explore Éire: You Can Live Like A King In This Castle Airbnb In Galway

Éadaoin Fitzmaurice

Ireland is pretty famous for the hundreds of castles that are still in tact.

Any time I meet an American it’s the second thing they say to me.

(The first being that they’re one twentieth Irish)

Many of the castles have become tourist attractions or hotels, but the closest thing we’ve seen to actually being able to stay in an authentic castle is this. It’s still got it’s gothic charm, not like the hotels that seem to have gutted any sense of character the castle once had for trendy, flowery wallpaper.

Say hello to Cahercastle in Galway!

The medieval castle has been around since the 1400s so you’ll feel like you’re taking a step back in time when you’re here. Just like all fairytales, you’ll be staying in the highest room of the tallest tower.

It is comprised of a master bedroom upstairs, with access to a turret, a living room, dining room, two guest bedrooms, and some storage rooms.

There’s a huge fireplace and soft blankets to keep you nice and cosy in the evenings.

The castle is about a 25 minute drive from Galway City, so if you want to go sightseeing it’s ideal.

It’s in a really quite area so you can take a step away from reality and truly kick up your feet and live like royals. It’s a super unique way of seeing the West and something you’ll remember forever.

Especially with all of the photos your guaranteed to take.

The hosts, Pete and Eva, are super friendly and always there to give a helping hand with any queries.

This really does sound like the dream tbh.

At €150 a night, it’s pretty good value. It would be perfect for a special occasion or a romantic getaway.
