Gotta make the most out of the aul AL
Maximising your annual leave is an essential part of being a working adult, you are honour bound to squeeze as much as you possibly can out of your time off. From experiencing different cultures, resting and recharging or spending time with friends + family, time off is intrinsically important. It's easy to overlook the importance of it during the daily grind and the crush of monotony, but some time off is as good as a complete reshuffle of your life, it can alter your attitude, form your direction and ultimately allows you the space and the time to breathe and process.
An excellent way to maximise the time is by correctly utilising the bank holidays in the calendar and by stacking your annual leave around it. If, like me, you're looking to take as much time off work as possible then this list of dates can help you be off for even longer. When you take bank holidays into the equation there are some good long stints you can lash on your Out of Office and switch off the work phone. Here are the best dates to maximise your annual leave for the year ahead (just be sure to get booking this time ahead of your co-workers now!):
- February 6, 7, 8, 9 = 4 days leave, 9 days off.
- March 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28 & April 2, 3, 4, 5 = 12 days leave, 23 days off.
- March 25, 26, 27, 28 & April 2, 3, 4, 5 = 8 days leave, 16 days off.
- May 7, 8, 9, 10 = 4 days leave, 9 days off.
- August 6, 7, 8, 9 = 4 days leave, 9 days off.
- October 29, 30, 31 & Nov 1 = 4 days leave, 9 days off.
- December 23, 24, 27, 30, 31 & Jan 2, 3 = 7 days leave, 16 days off.
While these dates do undoubtedly offer you more time, one drawback may be pricing so you are best to book flights and accommodation as far in advance as you can before you see those figures shoot up.
