Launching a nationwide hunt for a ‘chief Easter egg tasting officer’, lucky applicants will be tasked with sampling some of Aldi’s biggest chocolate egg range yet.

Time and lockdown are not two concepts that work very well together. With nothing to do and nowhere to go, there’s very little to help me distinguish one day from the next, but according to my sources, apparently, Easter is coming up?

Falling on April 4th this year, that makes Easter Sunday just over one month away which means that retailers have one thing, and one thing only, on their mind – Easter eggs.

I mean, same to be honest.

Launching a nationwide hunt for a ‘chief Easter egg tasting officer’, the Aldi team is hoping to find people obsessed with chocolate to help them narrow down the choices for the 2022 Easter chocolate range.

According to the job spec, successful applicants will receive free chocolate in exchange for reviews that will help buyers decide what to include in the shop’s Easter inventory next year. Listing some of the desirable skills they’re on the lookout for, chief Easter egg tasting officers must have an “infatuation for confectionary and experimental tastebuds”. Oh, and you have to be over 18 too.

Applications open on Monday, March 8th and will be open until March 12th with the overall winner receiving Aldi’s complete Easter egg range along with a €500 Aldi voucher for good measure too. To enter, just email [email protected] explaining why you should be picked – make sure to include eggs-amples of your fave Aldi chocolate as well as any “sweet tales” that may work in your favour too.

Aldi, if you’re listening – I’m more than happy to cut out the middle man and volunteer as tribute? Have your people call my people.
