Bray café lobbies for outdoor seating as business ‘will not survive without it’

Staff at one Bray café said they have been ‘overwhelmed’ at the response to an online petition set up to help them secure outdoor seating for the premises.

Owners at Glovers Café in Bray took to Instagram last night to ask followers for their help. In the process of applying for planning permission to add outdoor seating and a Victorian-style awning to the café, they have had “endless trouble” in their quest to do so.

Revealing that this is their third run at trying to get things over the line, owners penned a letter to local councillors – later sharing it with customers on social media to help drum up support for their request.

Currently operating as a takeaway only in line with Level 5 restrictions, owners have said that this is “not sustainable going forward”, adding that the business “will not survive” without an adequate outdoor area.

Taking to Instagram once again this morning, owners have set up an online petition, saying that they are “overwhelmed” at the response they’ve gotten from customers since sharing their struggle.

“Thank u all sososo much we are forever grateful for the support we’ve been shown. The Bray Community are a bunch of legends.”

Only up a matter of hours, the petition has already amassed over 500 signatures with several customers also choosing to leave a comment in support of the “fantastic local café”.
