Galwegians have long been singing the praises of local pizza place Dough Bros and the world is finally listening as they’ve been included on a roundup list of Europe’s best pizza.

Featured on a ‘top 50 best pizzas in Europe’ list, the full list of winners was revealed at an awards ceremony over in Milan last night. Organised by 50 Top Pizza, the ceremony was also live-streamed online for all those who could not attend due to Covid-19 restrictions. Coming in at a very impressive number 21 on the list, the Dough Bros just missed out on a top 20 spot.

Commending this ‘outstanding establishment’ for their well-risen pizzas and high-quality ingredients, the guys at 50 Top Pizza also heaped praise on the ‘cheerful’ staff and ‘impeccable’ home delivery service.

Reacting to the win, the Greaney brothers shared a photo of themselves looking very happy indeed, writing:

‘Today we should be in Milan in an old historic building, slicked out in a Tux, picking up our Award for being named in the TOP 50 PIZZERIAS in EUROPE.

What a night that would have been but covid put a halt to that like so much else. Of course that’s a massive shame but there are a lot worse things going on.

The night and the achievement will not pass us by. The Tuxes were going on regardless and we are gonna mark the occasion in style with our family and loved ones..

When we opened the Pop Up on Abbey gate Street there were 8 people serving pizzas on the one street. You can only imagine how many hundreds of thousands there are in Europe. To be named in the top 50, let alone No 21, is some feeling.

Thank you to every person that has helped us along the way, in particular to our staff who has given their all to help us achieve this huge milestone.

We will enjoy tonight and tomorrow get planning on how we get to no 1 over the next few years.’

Big things still to come from the bros by the sounds of it.

Dublin favourite Cirillo’s also made the cut, nabbing themselves number 16 on the list which technically means that they’re home to Ireland’s best pizza.
