Love Gin? Then You Need To Check Out This Amazing Gin Bar In Waterford

Jen

Gin has never been so cool.

We’ve been riding this gin craze for a couple of years now and it doesn’t look like we’re getting off anytime soon.

So sit back and let me tell you about this unreal gin bar that’s been making waves in Waterford for quite a while now.

I discovered this place on a trip home to the Déise a couple of years ago when I brought a boy home to show him the best of Waterford. It was only open a couple of months at the time, and I had heard rave reviews from friends.

Davy Macs is tucked away down a little side street in the heart of Waterford city.

Serving over 70 gins from around the world, you can get everything for a traditional G&T served in a slim jim or you can go all out and try a craft gin with a specially paired tonic.

They also have a pretty decent cocktail menu, if you’re that way inclined.

The interior of Davy Macs is gorgeous.

Despite being on trend with their drinks, the decor is delightfully old-school with a little snug and small tables which give it a very cosy and intimate feel.

Upstairs, is a little bit more modern and what you’d expect when you heard the words ‘gin bar’. Nevertheless, both rooms are gorgeous and have a lovely feel to them.

The only downside of this place is that smoking area is tiny, so if you spend a lot of your time in the smoking area when you’re out you might spend your night feeling a bit hemmed in.

On the other hand, it gets you talking to the other punters as ye all squeeze past each other to get in and out, so swings and roundabouts.

Our impression? We weren’t disappointed and he was very impressed (result).

This place has become one of my favourite places to go to in Waterford for a good catch-up with old friends.
