‘No one is left behind’ – Cork restaurant bans tables of two for Valentines night

No third wheelin’ necessary.

If Valentines is one of those holidays you’d rather avoid completely – lovey dove-y couples working overtime in the PDA department, with date night spam all over the ‘gram and nothing but rom coms on telly – you’re not alone. One Cork restaurant in particular strongly shares the sentiment, and is making it a priority to look out for the singletons this year.

Asian fusion restaurant Electric launched their Valentines menu this week, with one very specific stipulation – no dates allowed. In an unconventional approach, Fusion are only accepting bookings of four or more for Valentines Day.

Alongside the details of their Valentines tasting menu, Fusion shared their guidelines for the night which are as follows:

“Tables of 4 or more! Enjoy with another couple or single friends – no one is left behind at Electric”.

Their tasting menu will set you back €49.50 per person, with Thai style mussels and Clonakilty bao buns a highlight.

What do you make of the stipulation? Should couples be allowed to book in wherever they please on Valentines night, whispering sweet nothings to beat the band or are you happy to hear there’s a safe sanctuary for singletons?

If you’re in the Cork area and your plans for Feb 14th are shaping up to be more Pal than Val, you know where to head. Electric have you covered!
