There’s a Dundalk ice cream shop selling Tayto cheese and onion milkshakes

What’s wrong babe? You’ve barely touched your crispshake?

We’ve seen a lot of interesting collaborations from Mr Tayto of late.

First, Fizzy Cola Taytos. He was surely trolling us with these. Of all the flavours he could have brought out – we’d never have turned our noses up at a Tayto ready salted, and the world would be a better place with an Irish reimagining of a prawn cocktail but no, Mr T insisted on carbonated syrup flavour. But hey, far be it from us to question his methods.

More recently, we learned of the crematorium proposed to be built at the former Tayto factory in Coolock. Not an official Mr Tayto collab, in fairness, but still, an interesting crossover that deserves mentioning.

Fast forward to now and another Tayto fusion has made its way onto the Irish market. The Tayto cheese and onion milkshake is a Frankenstein of sweet and savoury created by Dundalk ice cream shop XXI Ice.

A packet of cheese and onion is broken up into crumbs and added to milk, then whizzed through the milkshake machine to create the final product. The comments section appears to be full of crisp lovers as concerned as we are, with one writing “this is offensive”.

Will you be trying the Tayto milkshake?
