PICS: This New Burger Joint In Galway Takes Food Porn To A Whole Other Level

Alana Laverty

This looks too good to be true.

Surely such burger perfection can’t possibly exist?!

Oh, but it does.

The Burgatory has just opened its doors in the real heart of Galway, right at the Spanish Arch and it’s making serious waves.

The Burgatory started out life as a Food Truck called ‘Harlowe’ and toured Ireland’s festival scene as so many do.

“Festival life was great but they wanted to bring the burgers home to Galway so we saw an opportunity to use Deliveroo to get our tasty burgers to locals.

This went down a treat so naturally, the next step was 2 successful pop-ups and finally our own place to lay down our roots!”

Here’s what to expect of their menu:

Burgers (grass-fed, preservative-free beef from Castlemine Farms):

  • Burger
  • Cheese burger
  • Bacon cheese burger
  • Veggie burger (2 panko crumbed portobello ‘shrooms)
  • Chilli cheese burger (beef patty, cheese, Burgatory chilli mince, jalapenos, onion)
  • Damnation burger (beef patty, cheese, McCarthy’s black pudding, onion, mustard & ketchup)

‘Birds’  (pasture-reared, preservative-free Ronan Byrne’s Friendly Farmer chicken with no preservatives):

  • Deadly chicken burger (brined chicken breast with onion, hot sauce and blue cheese dressing)
  • Crispy fried chicken burger (with onion and ranch dressing)
  • Winggggsssssss (6 or 12)
  • Crumbed boneless chicken fingers

Sides:

  • Fried pickles (drooling at the thought)
  • Skinny fries
  • Chilli cheese fries (Burgatory chilli mince, jalapenos, American mustard, melty cheese)
  • Buffalo fries (skinny fries, Frank’s hot sauce and blue cheese bits)
  • Bacon cheese fries (skinny fries, cheese sauce and smoked bacon bits)
  • Raw kale super salad (raw kale, broccoli stems, red cabbage, white cabbage, toasted pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries and a poppy seed dressing )

Salad? At a diner? No thanks.

As well as normal shakes, The Burgatory will also serve a selection of ‘Hard Shakes’ with the likes of Jagermeister, bourbon and spiced rum in them.

Eh, yum?

AND they also do a Buckfast Hard Shake…

Craft beers, cider and wines are also available.

A Burgatory own-brew, draught ‘August’s’ pale ale, from a recipe handed down by the owners’ great-grandfather, will be launched at the end of the summer and is set to be a serious hit.

And the desserts look equally as dirty as everything else…
