Rock band Pixies have been revealed as the first act to perform at the Galway International Arts Festival next summer.

GIAF 2020 will mark the 43rd anniversary of the festival and is expected to run from July 13th to 26th. Showcasing the best of homegrown and international talent, there will be music, comedy, visual art, dance and literary events…along with a whole load of craic.

Founded in 1978, the Festival brings the world’s creatives to the City of Tribes for one hell of a show.

Announcing Pixies as one of the standout performances of next year’s festivities, they are “one of the most influential bands of the last thirty years”.

Acting as inspiration to other iconic bands such as Nirvana and Radiohead, their signature sound is a mix of punk aggression and pop melodies.

Taking to the stage 17 July 2020, the American band will make their debut out west following on from the success of their seventh album, Beneath the Eyrie which was released in September.

Regarded as one of the top summer festivals in Europe, be sure to mark it on your calendars now as you won’t want to miss out.

Tickets for the Pixies’ gig are priced at €52.50 and go on sale this Friday at 9am.
