Six unreal events happening in Galway this Bank Holiday weekend

Brian Dillon

Galway is set to see the return of the country’s largest Halloween festival this weekend.

Galway Aboo Halloween Festival 2019 will kick off on Saturday, October 25 and will see Galway’s Latin quarter become home to many fun and free events.

As well as this, the city will play host to a wide variety of incredible events, and here are the ones we are most looking forward to.

Macnas Halloween Parade 2019

This is by far one of the highlights of Halloween in Galway every year.

Now in its 33rd year, it will take place on Sunday 27th October 2019 at approximately 5.30pm and is set to draw a crowd of over 70,000.

This year’s parade theme is ‘Danse Macabre’ and will feature the signature Macnas giant creations as well as many other performances and pieces of unbelievable art.

Drag brunch at Electric

If you’ve ever been to drag bingo before, you’ll know they are actually the best craic ever.

Miss Taken and Miss Roots are set to put on a stellar all-singing, all-dancing drag performance as they host bingo on Sunday, October 27.

“This glamtastic duo plan to drink you dry and serve nothing but good vibes so don’t be a drag, or do, and join us for a fun-filled afternoon!”

It’ll start at 4pm and tickets are available here.

Terror in Transylvania

To celebrate Dracula’s birthday, you’re invited to enjoy a thrilling three-course meal and a murder mystery game this Halloween.

Taking place in Cooke’s Restaurant and Wine Bar on Abbeygate Street Upper, the party-goers will have to find clues and piece evidence together to discover which one of them is the killer.

Comedy club crawl

Taking place as part of Vodafone Comedy Carnival, the comedy club crawl will see guests be surprised with stellar comedy acts over four nights. It’s like a blind date but with comedians!

Although it started yesterday, it goes on until Sunday, October 27. Tickets are available here.

80s vs 90s Halloween party at Monroe’s

The theme is movies and musicians from the 80s and 90s at Monroe’s this Saturday, October 26.

“Think Ghostbusters, The Witches, Hocus Pocus and more… We’re talking Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Whitney Houston, the list goes on…”

Halloween at Pálás Cinema

One of our favourite things about Halloween is the movies!

So, it’s only right that we get to see them on the big screen during the spooky season.

Pálás cinema on Lower Merchant’s Road is set to put on some showings of our favourite scary and spooky flicks over the bank holiday weekend, including Hocus Pocus, American Psycho, Scream and The Shining.
