What restaurants are doing takeaway in Galway?

Wondering what restaurants are doing takeaway in Galway? We've got you.

The country moves into phase three of the government's roadmap today meaning that restaurants, cafes and pubs that serve food can reopen their doors to the public for the first time since mid-March. Not everywhere has decided to reopen for sit-in service though, with many choosing to continue with takeaway services only for the time being.

Updated June 30th

Café Express

A Galway staple - you can still get your coffee fix just in a to-go cup. Open for take away bites and beverages for now.

Reopening for sit-in service on July 20th but customers can still take full advantage of their tasty takeaway menu until then.

Charcoal Grill

Open for takeaway/delivery you can order over the phone or via Marvin/Deliveroo/Just Eat. The local nightclub may not be open but thankfully you can still recreate the post-night out feed thanks to Charcoal Grill. A religious experience some might say...

Classico Pizza & Pasta

Now open 11am to 11pm, they have all your pizza and pasta needs covered and then some.

Coffeewerk + Press

One of Galway's dotiest little cafes, Coffeewerk + Press is perched right on Quay Street and is easily recognisable by its sunshine yellow door. Serving coffee and treats to go (for now), they're brainstorming how to open the upper two floors and will hopefully have a plan in place very soon.

Chili Shack

Open for delivery/collection, they've also just come out with new bottles of habanero hot sauce that will most definitely spice up your life.

Da Roberta’s

Possibly my favourite Italian restaurant in Galway (it's definitely in the top five anyway), Da Roberta's in Salthill is open for takeway and you can order through their website. Literally everything on the menu is good so you can't go wrong here.

Espresso 44

Right in the heart of the city on Shop Street, Espresso 44 is back serving up piping hot cups of coffee. Make sure to try one of their tasty treats while you're at it... it'd be a shame to see them go to waste.

Falguni Indian

Located out in Salthill, Falguni is open for takeaway only at the minue. Specialising in authentic Indian cuisine, there's plenty to choose from. Order online through the website.

Golden Rickshaw

My go-to spot for a 3-in-1 when in Galway, you just can't beat it from Golden Rickshaw. Open for takeway in Galway only.

Gourmet Food Parlour Salthill

Still serving all your favourites - whether it's brunch or burgers you're after, Gourmet Food Parlour has all bases covered.

Handsome Burger

Having launched the Handsome Hatch at the start of June, the guys are serving up their signature burgers to-go for the time being.  Saying that sometimes takeaways can be associated with fast food, they've assured customers that they still hand roll every patty and hand-cut every chip. Hard to argue with the below...

Hazel Mountain chocolate

Back in action for takeaway in Galway Monday - Saturday 9:30am -5pm and Sundays 12:30pm - 5:30pm. Chocoholics take note.

Open for call and collection, give them a buzz from 4pm to 9pm. A fish and chips combo from Hooked will help to cure any case of the Mondays.

Il Folletto

Il Folletto literally translates as 'the leprechaun' so you could say that this place is an amalgamation of the best of both Italy and Ireland.

Jack Jordans

Open for collection and delivery, Jack Jordans have everything from steak sandwiches to sticky wings, wraps and gourmet salads on the menu. Something for everyone.

Jalan Jalan

Serving up all their signature dishes, Jalan Jalan is back open for takeaway and delivery.

Thanking customers for their "immense patience at this tough time", Kashmir continues to feed hungry locals via their takeaway/delivery service.

Kappa Ya

Cold, miserable, rainy weather calls for ramen. Warm, sunny weather also calls for ramen but those days are less common in Galway.

King Ding

An old reliable for those in the Rahoon area, King Ding is open for collection and delivery.

Lana Salthill

Not offering sit-in service just yet but if you time your order right you can pick it up and eat it as the sun sets over Salthill. Dreamy, right?

Another Quay Street gem, Marine's have light bites, mains and desserts on the menu so while you can recreate the restaurant experience at home. Dig out the candles and make an occasion of it.

Deciding not to reopen for sit-in service, they've reassured the public that their kitchen will continue churning out orders for takeaway in Galway. And in further good news... their hugely popular Dial-a-pint service will also continue to run.

Papa Rich Woodquay/Briarhill/Born

The Salthill branch is back open for sit-in service, but Papa Rich in Woodquay, Briarhill and Born will only offer takeaway for now.

Pasta Factory

Highly rated amongst the city's vegan population (they serve up fresh, egg-free pasta), order from here and you can choose your favourite pasta shape and sauce.

Asian street food meets classy cuisine. Perched down on the docks, Neo is open for pickups or delivery or as even just for a chat - the staff are that sound here.

TGO Falafel

Another vegan top-pick, this place serves up some of Galway's tastiest falafel. A tiny little spot on Mary Street, they won't be reopening their upstairs area anytime soon - putting the decision down to concerns over social distancing. BUT thankfully you can still get their grub to go... and I highly recommend that you do.

The Dough Bros

It's been a big week for The Dough Bros who have added new locations to the list of places their DIY pizza kits can be delivered to. Now available in Westport, Ballina, Castlebar, Ennis and Limerick, they're also serving up their signature pies to the good people of Galway and will hopefully reopen their doors to the public again very soon.

Trieste Cafe

A newish addition to the Galway foodie scene, the guys at Trieste have decided to delay reopening fully for another little while. Saying that social distancing would be an issue, they've launched a shiny new online ordering platform to keep you happy in the meantime.

Tuco's Taqueria

Dubbed the Best Mexican Establishment in the 2019 Food Awards, Tuco's know their tacos. Little life tip for you all: always add guac, even if it's extra.

Umbrella Asian Tapas

Consider this a sign that you should forgo cooking and order a feast from Umbrella Asian Tapas instead. Order for takeaway in Galway through Deliveroo or Just Eat.

Urban Grind

Nestled down on William Street, Urban Grind is most definitely in the running for Galway's best cuppa joe. Their almond croissants are divine too, just FYI. And both are available for takeaway in Galway.

Calling into Vinnie's without having boogied the night away in the Róisin first may seem criminal, but sometimes you just really need a bag of chipper chips. Should the cravings hit, rest assured that Vinnie's will sort you out.

Dubbed Galway's quirky Tex-mex restaurant, Vocho is housed in a shipping container - making it one of the city's most memorable spots too. Try their sweet chocolate and chipotle chili if you're feeling adventurous.

Wholly Cow Burger

Burgers, burgers and more burgers. Don't forget the chips though... a burger without a side of chips would only be lonely and we don't want that.

Yummy Wok

Deciding not to open for sit-in service straight away, Yummy Wok is still offering takeway in Galway.

Hankering for some Italian? Zappi's has quite the selection and as a pizza and pasta bar, they're sure to have at least a few options to suit you.

They make a point...

Let us know if there are any others to add to the list.
