A thrilling adventure is waiting for you in the north west.

Ireland’s west coast is known as the Wild Atlantic Way, and if you’d like to pack your next getaway with fast-paced, thrilling activities, it’s certainly a fitting place to do so.

This summer, head to Ireland’s north west coast and try out some of its most adrenaline pumping activities. Surfing, rock-climbing and tailored adventure tours are just a handful of the thrilling activities you can enjoy in this striking region. Afterwards, we’ve got dinner sorted as we’ve highlighted some of the best nearby spots to grab a replenishing meal.

Ready to take your next getaway to a whole other level? Here are 5 activities along the north west of the Wild Atlantic Way that are bound to get the adrenaline pumping during your next adventure.

Unique Ascent

There’s a range of activities available at Unique Ascent in Donegal, including hill-walking, kayaking and mountaineering, but to really get that adrenaline going, book a rock-climbing activity. Under expert supervision, you’ll safely ascend and descend sea cliffs and sea stacks, allowing you to see the striking coastal scenery from a whole new perspective. After that thrill, head to Seán Óg’s Bar and Restaurant in Derrybeg for a chilled out evening.

More to Life Adventures

Book a stand-up paddle boarding lesson with More To Life Adventures and you can enjoy a brand new sport while taking in some of north Mayo’s prettiest locations, including Killala, Ballina and Lough Conn. Get wet-suited up, learn the basics of stand-up paddle boarding and then take to the water for an experience you won’t forget. Before your lesson, fuel up on breakfast or lunch at The Post House in Ballina.

Wild Wet Adventures

Head to Tubbercurry in Sligo and take your pick from a number of thrilling water-based activities courtesy of Wild Wet Adventures. Explore the natural beauty of Lough Talt with a kayaking, canoeing or stand-up paddle boarding lesson, or tour the south Sligo countryside and the Ox Mountains on foot. Afterwards, enjoy some fresh pizza at the Bella & Brava Restaurant in Coolaney.

Rossnowlagh Surf School

One sure fire way to get the adrenaline pumping on your next getaway is with a surfing lesson, and the beaches of Donegal are an ideal spot to do just that. Book a lesson at the Rossnowlagh Surf School, get to grips with your board and then take to the ocean. Feel the fresh breeze in your face as you ride the waves at this surf haven. After your lesson, enjoy a meal with a view at The Gaslight Inn.

Northwest Adventure Tours

A range of one-of-a-kind adventures are on offer at Northwest Adventure Tours in Strandhill, Sligo. Embark on a night hike under a starlit sky, or opt for their bike to bath experience, one of their many cycling tours. This sees participants cycle through Sligo’s countryside and it ends with a Voya Seaweed Bath Experience, the perfect way to relax after a challenging adventure. Cap off a day of thrills with a meal at the nearby Shells Café.

So, what are you waiting for? Book your next adventure in the Wild Atlantic Way today!
