The Kingdom Is Calling: All You Need To Know About The Dingle Food Festival

Sarah Finnan

The Dingle Food Festival returns this October for more food-fuelled fun.

Housed in the seaside fishing town of Dingle, once hailed ‘the most beautiful place on earth’ by National Geographic, it’s every bit as picturesque as it sounds.

The festival which takes place on 4-6 October, is one of the best weekends of the year according to locals. Already a hub of activity, the place comes alive with music and laughter as people throng the streets to get a bite of the action. Literally.

Now in its twelfth year, it’s a well-seasoned festival at this point. Standout events include cookery demonstrations, a craft beer and cider trail, over 50 market stalls, children’s events and wine tastings.

The Taste Trail is also a firm favourite every year and sees festival-goers buy a book of taste trail tickets that they can use across over 70 venues around the town for a food crawl of sorts.

Founded in 2007, it’s organised by a group of locals on a non-profit making basis. With the aim of promoting the best that the Dingle Peninsula has to offer, they plan to make the festival waste-free by 2020.

I have yet to visit the Kingdom, but maybe this is just the bait I need.
