€10k artist residency cork

The Oileán artist residency provides a €10k bursary, housing, and studio space.

Sounds like any artist’s dream, right? Oileán offering this €10k bursary for an artist residency in West Cork has the potential to be life-changing for its recipient. According to their website, this is a fantastic opportunity for any artist who is “committed to developing or working in the Irish language.” Oileán recognises the obstacles faced by working artists, particularly those who are parents, which is why they “will provide a bursary of €10,000, housing to match the family’s specific needs, tailored support and studio space.”

According to their website, they hope to hear from “professional practicing artists working in any discipline with a primary school aged child or children for a unique and exciting opportunity; to live and work on our beautiful Gaeltacht island.”

The residency takes place on Cape Clear Island in West Cork; Oileán will work hard to help the bursary recipient relocate for the year. This includes ensuring the awarded artist’s child or children have a spot in the local national school.

Those hoping to receive the €10k bursary must live in the ROI and be willing to relocate to Cape Clear, Cork for the artist residency. The residency begins in September 2022 and ends in June 2023.
