Cork’s Hi-B Bar reopens for the first time in 705 days

Katy Thornton

Today marks the first day Hi-B Bar in Cork will be open since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

Hi-B Bar, known for its intimate and cosy setting, has spent 705 days closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. While pubs reopened a few months ago, the guidelines around social distancing meant that this small Cork pub couldn’t join in. We are nearly two years into the pandemic, 705 days to be exact, and as the social distancing guidelines have been lifted, Hi-B Bar finally reopens today, 10th February, at 4pm.

This bar has a strict no phones allowed policy to encourage people to actually talk to one another; a crazy concept, I know. Hi-B have also introduced wine and prosecco by the bottle to their menu (needed on a celebratory day like today). They also promise an evening of good music and conversation – what more could you ask for on a Thursday night?

Hi-B Bar is based on Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork’s City Centre. If you’re a local, and looking for somewhere to have a drink tonight, make Hi-B your chosen spot. 705 days is a long time and we will be so pleased for Hi-B Bar when it reopens, for good we hope.
